Housing Basics
Every farm has a plot to build a house. Houses, like almost every detail in HKO, are level based. The level of a house determines how many rooms a house has. The farm level determines which size house you can build.
- A level 1 farm can only support a level 1 house
- A level 4 farm can support up to a level 2 house
- A level 8 farm can support up to a level 3 house
For example, if your farm is level 1, you will not be able to build a level 3 house. This is important to remember, as many people "reset" their farms to clean it out. If your level 8 farm holds a level 3 house, and you reset it to level 1, you will lose the house, as a level 1 farm cannot support a level 3 house.
The best thing to do is, once you build a house, never reset your farm.
Acquiring houses
House deeds are acquired through various quests (currently two houses are rewarded) as well as in the Item Mall. All house deeds are non-transferable, even those won by quest rewards.
Building a house
Building a house is a multi-phase operation.
First, while on your farm, you right-click the house deed:
At this point, the basic foundation is laid, and you must collect materials to build the house. The first house you win, the Straw Hut, will also reward you with a stack of materials required to build the house. Every other house will require you to collect the materials.
You may also purchase an Auto House Builder in the item mall, which is a consumable (one time use) bot that will automatically collect the required materials.
Now that you've provided the materials to build the house, you need to win a Flash mini-game. There are three different mini-games, each one is associated with the level of the house. A level 1 house will only require you to win the first mini-game, and so on.
Now that you've won the mini-game, the actual construction can begin. The owner of the house is required to right-click on the house to begin hammering. Each house has a build load indicated on the deed (i.e., 6,0000). Each hammer cycle will deduct a certain amount from the building load. Each hammer cycle consumes 5 action points, and once you run out of action points, you will need to rest or regen action points.
Friends may assist in construction provided they are in a group with the owner as the leader. As such, only four players at a time may assist
